The type of LED diode makes a big difference as well. I tried 3 - one didn't work at all, one was OK and the third worked well. It's worth noting that some webcams work much better than others in FaceTrackNoIR. Calibration should only need to be done once unless you move the camera. Just remember that when you get to the Model section you select Cap, rather than Clip, and make sure that the dimensions are correct for your LED cap configuration. For best results you need some sort of filter over your webcam lens to cut out some of the normal visible light (the dark part of an old photo negative works quite well). Make sure that you have PointTracker as the tracker source. The tracking works sometimes, i tested with stronger light, I tested with 3 IR diod's which I have installed on my cap, and I can see the light from them the screen, but it does not give any action. There are a number of things you need to do if you're using LEDs with FaceTrackNoIR. FreeTrack requires at least DirectX 9.0c (November), available here.

If you're not very handy you can buy ready made clips online (see for an example) which work well. Although there's some expense involved (very little if you make it yourself) it's well worth it. Shortly after getting FaceTrackNoIR I realised, from reading around the forums, that it works best with an LED clip and the PointTracker tracker source which comes with the program. Also, try adjusting the Accela Filter settings to damp down the movement. In yaw, for example, try having the curves flatter for the first 10-15 degrees of input with a smooth rise to a maximum at about 30 degrees of input. Things like wearing glasses can also affect tracking.ģ. The room lighting needs to be very good with even lighting all over your face. However, it will only show "tracking" if it can resolve your face effectively. The only way to start tracking is with the Start button. I can't help you with this one as I haven't had that problem!Ģ. Have tried experimenting with the Curves, but do not have the skill to understand the best adjustments. To answer your questions:ġ. It is impossible to make it stop where I want to look. The tracking is way to active, even if I do not blink with an eye, the camera goes from side to side. Being able to adjust the tracking so i do not get airsick. Is there any "button" to make it start, except from the Start button under GO! ?ģ. the program hang several times, get message that it has stoppedĢ.
